Automating Metadata Manipulation
with MarcEdit

  April 22, 2025
10:00-4:00 (lunch 12-1)
Yale University

This all-day workshop will provide hands-on instruction to automate aspects of the creation, manipulation, and enhancement of library metadata using MarcEdit. The workshop is intended for beginner and intermediate users of MarcEdit. Participants will learn about MarcEdit’s basic and advanced-level functions, including but not limited to batch editing tools, automating task lists, regular expressions, and the Linked Data tool. Through hands-on exercises based on large scale metadata clean-up projects, participants will gain practical experience applying these functions and tools to tabular data and large batches of invalid MARC records. Participants will leave the session with demonstrated proficiency in MarcEdit and reusable, automated task lists and tools to improve metadata at their own institutions.
