CAREER ACHIEVEMENT AWARD
PURPOSE
The PTPL Career Achievement Award recognizes significant contributions made to technical services by a library staff member in the PTPL region. Examples of recognized contributions include professional advancement, technical services management, research and publication, library education, or dynamic contributions to an individual library or library organization. An MLS degree is not a prerequisite for the award.
AWARD
The recipient of the Career Achievement Award will receive a plaque and letter of commendation acknowledging the significance of his or her contributions to the field of library technical services.
A scholarship contribution will be made in the recipient’s name to the PTPL Scholarship Fund or a library fund of the recipient’s choice.
The award will be presented annually by the PTPL Board at the October meeting. One award will be given each year.
NOMINATION AND SELECTION CRITERIA
Nominations will be accepted from any member of PTPL, but nominees do not have to be current PTPL members. Nominees may be retired but the nomination must come within two years of the retirement date. Nominations must include at least one additional endorsement of the nominee’s contribution.
The nomination packet should include a completed PTPL Career Achievement Award nomination form, a brief essay detailing the reason for the nomination and significance of the nominee’s contributions to technical services, and, at least one additional letter of endorsement. A resume, bibliography or other supportive material related to the nomination may also be submitted.
Nominations for this award will be accepted from January through June of each calendar year. The PTPL Board will select the winner of the Career Achievement Award after careful deliberation of the nominees. Additional interviews to clarify or support the nomination may be conducted by Board members.
Nominations will be kept on file for two calendar years and nominations may be reactivated once, in writing, by the original nominator. Further considerations will require a new nomination packet.

DEADLINE FOR NOMINATIONS: July 31, 2015
The name of the honoree will be decided by August 31, 2015 and publicly announced at the annual PTPL meeting in the fall. The recipient will receive a free one-year membership in PTPL and have registration fees for the annual conference waived.
