Bio: Melanie Polutta began as a cataloger at LC in 2000 for the Hispanic History and Literature Section, and found that cataloging was the right job for her. She has been involved in NACO training, RDA testing and training, and training other catalogers throughout her career at the Library. She is now a cataloging policy specialist in the Policy, Training, and Cooperative Programs Division, where she works with policy questions and documentation development for RDA, Library of Congress Subject Headings, and Library of Congress Classification, and is working to become knowledgeable about Folio. 

Workshop overview: This two-hour workshop will show the process of This two-hour workshop will show the process of how to make a proposal, demonstrating both the conceptual and practical aspects of the process. There will be interactive moments in which the participant will be asked to do their own research for a potential proposal, whether for a new or changed heading, in order to practice the processes discussed.

Learning Environment: This interactive workshop will be hosted on Zoom. Attendees will view demonstrations and participate in instructor-led exercises.
